(none) Case is somewhat rough/crude from the casting process. Lid marked "DET B-1 MIAMI FLA". Lots of hand-wear on knobs. Key knob is a more rounded shape than later models. Serial was carefully removed from panel. The base of the FT-243 socket is brown, not black. Ant. current lamp housing has larger knurling than later models. All binding posts stamped with "RDR". Power plug is brown, not black. Front panel lettering is smaller than later models. Inside show signs of repair. Tubes have 1964 and 1966 dates. The CIA used to have a training facility at a military base in the Miami area, so this unit may have been used there (?).

3000 An RR-2B prototype built by NEMS, named in a test report dated 22-Apr-1953. NEMS was about to become the contract manufacturer, replacing RDR. It was returned to NEMS due to some electrical and mechanical defects. The corrected unit was re-submitted and passed per a test report dated 17-Aug-1953. When re-submitted it was called “prototype #4”.
